The Thomson Country Club was teeming with golfers Saturday, but it was not a normal day of play.
Seventy-two golfers comprising 18 teams played in an 18-hole golf tournament in memory of a country club member who died in an Aug. 5 hunting accident.
The morning was emotional for the golfers and the family of the late Blaine C. Jenkins as a memorial bench in Jenkins honor was unveiled, presented and dedicated by club members Ed Darby and Cheryl Williams.
The marble bench sits between two other memorials in front of the pro shop. Coordinated by Jimmy Lancaster, club members and sponsors paid for the bench honoring Jenkins and money raised from the tournament benefitted the Jenkins family.
