• Briarwood defense secures 7-6 win at home

With their backs to their own goal line throughout the football game Friday night, the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers stood tough and produced key stops when needed during their first home game of the season.
Of those multiple big plays on defense, the most crucial may have been when Fifth Newton ripped into the backfield and disrupted a two-point try after Thomas Jefferson had narrowed Briarwood’s lead to 7-6 late in the fourth quarter.
