The Thomson McDuffie Middle School Bulldogs added some touchdowns to Mother Nature Wednesday to end their first regular season game.
The Bulldogs hosted Washington County at the Brickyard, scored four TDs and shut out the visitors 26-0. Then, before the second half kicked off, lightning in the area forced referees to call the game.
Fans of the two schools sat on the visitors side, as the home side of the stadium was closed because of renovations.
Washington County fumbled their opening drive, with TMMS’ Dondrell Howard recovering the miscue at the visitor’s 33-yard line. Quarterback Trey Parker ended the drive to the goal on a 1-yard TD rush.
Thomson’s ensuing kickoff ended in another Washington County fumble, this time at the Washington 30.
