Traditional worship with a Southern Gospel flavor is a characteristic of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Located just across the McDuffie/Columbia County line in Harlem, Mt. Tabor claims victory in Jesus and salvation through Christ.
“Through Christ, He allows us to live our lives victoriously,” said Rev. Mike P. Sutphin, pastor of the 150-year old church. “Christ gives us victory in this world that we live in today.”
Sutphin, pastor of the 145-member congregation for the past 12 years, said Mt. Tabor is grounded in the Word of God and in the love given by Christ.
“That is what we preach, believe, practice and uphold,” Sutphin said. “We believe that the Word of God is infallible, inherent, and it is God’s Word.”
