Although Briarwood Academy opened the season with a 37-14 loss at Edmund Burke Academy, the Buccaneers are ready to move forward and take on Thomas Jefferson Academy this Friday at home.
“We didn’t do that bad Friday. Edmund Burke seemed to be a little bit bigger than we were and I think we kind of got tired of pushing on them,” said Briarwood Head Coach John Osborne.
He pointed out the size difference with the example of his two offensive guards, who weigh between 150 and 160 pounds but were blocking defensive players that weighed about 250 pounds.
“We did well at times. They scored, and then we scored and it was an 8-8 ballgame,” he said.
