Three local youngsters recently appeared in an Augusta Junior Players’ production.
Alex Thomas, a sixth-grade homeschooler; Jake Barnes, seventh grade, Thomson-McDuffie Middle School; and Salem Twiggs, sixth grade, Thomson-McDuffie Middle School, had parts in the group’s musical,” Seussical,” Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17 and 18 at Greenbrier High School.
Barnes was a Citizen Of The Jungle Of Nool and Thomas and Twiggs were among the Who’s Of Whoville.
The production is based on books by Dr. Seuss. The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to a butter battling military school for thinking too many "thinks."
Horton's attention to the speck of dust and his "loitering" care of Mayzie LaBird's egg has elicited taunting and accusations from the rest of the animal kingdom, except for Gertrude McFuzz, who longs for his attention, and JoJo, whose "thinks" save them all in the end.
