Funeral services for Della Curry Anderson, 77, of Triangle, Va., mother of Steve Anderson, will be held on Sat., Aug. 11, 2012, at 4 p.m. at First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Interment will be in Stafford Memorial Park in Stafford, Va.
D.T. Brown Memorial Mortuary of Thomson, Ga. is handling the arrangements.
Samuel H. Campbell
Samuel H. Campbell, 73, of Harlem, Ga., husband of Betty Campbell, passed away on Thurs., Aug. 9, 2012.
Funeral services and entombment will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Aug. 11, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Starling Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Charles “Charlie” Wesley Candler, Jr.

Charles “Charlie” Wesley Candler, Jr. entered into rest on Aug. 12, 2012 at his residence in Thomson, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 14, from the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Barnes and Rev. Beverly Casstevens officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Johnny Lokey, Johnny Kitchens, Matt Ansley, Daniel Ansley, Mickey Johnson and Neal Foster.
Mr. Candler was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Ga. and was the son of the late Charles Wesley Candler, Sr. and the late Florence Lokey Candler. He was retired from Bellsouth/AT&T with 38 years of service. Mr. Candler was a member of First United Methodist Church of Thomson.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Ansley Candler; son, Charles “Chuck” Wesley Candler III and wife Candy; daughter, Jill Candler Russell and husband Hal; and four grandchildren, Jacob Henry Russell, Jared Candler Russell, Sydney Kate Candler and Caiden Wesley Candler.
Memorials may be made to the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Home, the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 13, at the funeral home.

John Crawford, Sr.
John Ellis "Big John" Crawford, Sr., of Thomson, Ga., husband of Voncile Crawford, entered into rest on Wed., Aug. 8, 2012.
Funeral services will be held on Tues., Aug. 14, at 1 p.m. at The House of God Church of God In Christ in Thomson. Interment will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Mon., Aug. 13, from 6-8 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church in Thomson.
Crawford and Crawford, of Atlanta, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
Carrie B. Dunn
Funeral services for Carrie Bell Dunn, 92, of Harlem, Ga., will be held on Mon., Aug. 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Water Branch Baptist Church in Grovetown, Ga. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Harlem.

Betty Evans
Betty Evans, born March 4, 1923, died peacefully on Aug. 6, 2012 in Madison, Ala. at the age of 89. Betty's husband, Charles Evans, was the pastor of Dearing Baptist Church from 1955 to 1959, where she taught & played the piano. Together, they served as missionaries in East Africa for 30 years. Betty enjoyed 10 years of retirement in Dearing from 1989 to 1999.
Mattie Johnson
Funeral services for Mattie Bell Gibson Johnson, 81, of Grovetown, Ga., will be held on Sat., Aug. 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Simonia Baptist Church in Grovetown. Interment will be in Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling, Ga.

Selma Ledford
Selma Lucille Ledford, of North Augusta, S.C., entered into rest on Sun., Aug. 5, 2012.
She was the beloved wife of the late Claude Ledford for 51 years. Mrs. Ledford was born in Knoxville, Tenn. and lived in Thomson, Ga. for 20 years before moving to North Augusta a few years ago. She was a retired Department Store Clerk. Mrs. Ledford also attended Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, William Anthony Foust; niece, Linda Pitcher; and brother, Fate Foust.

Christina Stewart Payton, 42, of Raeford, N.C., wife of William Payton & mother of Hunter & Noah, entered into rest on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012.
Memorial services were held on Sun., Aug. 12, at Martins Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church in Lincolnton, Ga.
