Perhaps it took several years longer than it should have, but on August 3, former Thomson High Bulldog and South Carolina Gamecock star running back, Jay Lynn Hodgin was notified that he had been selected into the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame.
Tommy Moody, chairman of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee and long time color analyst for Gamecocks baseball, reached Hodgin by phone Friday afternoon with the news.
A star halfback for the Bulldogs in 1969 and 1970, Hodgin helped lead Thomson to a two-year record of 19-2, rushing for over 1,000 yards his senior year, despite missing two games to injury. He signed a scholarship with South Carolina and started at halfback from 1972-74.
