Leroy "Slim" Anthony, of Lincolnton, Ga., fiance of Patricia Ann Wright, father of Vernon, Tabitha, DeCarlo, Reshaunda, & Kendrick, & stepfather of Desherica & Octavius, passed away on Sun., July 29, 2012.
Funeral services were held on Sat., Aug. 4, at New Tabernacle Baptist Church & Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Funeral services for Maxsenia Dorsey Butler, 75, of Thomson, Ga., were held on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Grovetown, Ga. Interment was in Westview Cemetery of Thomson.

Doris Chalker, 93, of Thomson, Ga., widow of Amplus Chalker & mother of Carole Forrester & the late Michael Chalker, died on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 7, at Thomson First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Westview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 6, at Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson.
Barry E. Cox
Barry E. Cox, 49, of Appling, Ga., husband of Caroline Cox & father of Matthew & Sam, entered into rest on Thurs., Aug. 2, 2012.
Funeral services were held on Sun., Aug. 5, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens Chapel.
The family received friends on Sat., Aug. 4, at Platt's Funeral Home in Evans, Ga.

Lynda Bridges Decker, 61, of Dearing, Ga., wife of John V. Decker, entered into rest on Aug. 3, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Mon., Aug. 6, at Starling Funeral Home in Harlem, Ga. Interment will be at 4 p.m. in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton, Ga.
Visitation was held on Sun., Aug. 5, at the funeral home.
Minnie Dorsey
Funeral services for Minnie Jewel Harvey Dorsey, 88, of Dearing, Ga., were held on Sat., Aug. 4, 2012, at Water Branch Baptist Church in Grovetown, Ga. Interment was in Water Branch Baptist Church Memorial Gardens.

Blaine Clinton Jenkins, 55, of Chestnut Dr. in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on Aug. 5, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 8, from the First United Methodist Church in Thomson with Revs. John Barnes and Lester Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: James Clayton Graves, Brett Allen Jenkins, David Christian Jenkins, Jordan Nicholas Jenkins, Daniel Jay Tumlin, Craig Lee Norris, and Chadwick Linton Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Georgia Iron Works.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Warrenton, N.C. and lived in Thomson, Ga. most of his life. He was a Foundryman Team Leader with Georgia Iron Works with 32 years of service. Mr. Jenkins was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, and gardener and loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy McGlauflin Jenkins; son, Scott Andrew Jenkins; daughter, Elizabeth Jo Jenkins; parents, Bonnell "Bo" Lester Jenkins and Jo Helen Norris Jenkins; sisters and brothers, Bonnie Starling and husband Ralph, Tina Pentecost and husband Douglas, Lester "Buddy" Jenkins and wife Becky, Deborah Mann and husband Russell, Brett Jenkins and wife Amanda, Susan Pickard and husband Daryl, Bryan Jenkins and wife Becky, Bradley Jenkins and wife Lauren; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James McGlauflin and Elizabeth McGlauflin; sister-in-law, Sue Hinesley and husband David; and many nieces and nephews.
If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call at the residence or from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 7, at the funeral home.

Willie Maude Brooks Newsome, 84, of Matthews, Ga., wife of the late Cecil Newsome, entered into rest on Tues., July 31, 2012.
Services were held on Sat., Aug. 4, at Your Hope Church in Matthews, Ga. Interment was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Avera, Ga.

Jeanette P. Norman
Jeanette Portwood Norman, 86, of Augusta, Ga., the beloved wife of the late Grady Norman, entered into rest on Saturday, August 4, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Larry Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, Ga.
Born in Florida to the late Mr. and Mrs. Will D. Portwood, she grew up in Kite, Ga. before moving to Augusta in her adult life. She retired from Sears with 21 years of service in the credit department. She will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune to know her.
She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Glenda Boland; grandson, Brandon Norman; brothers, Pierce Portwood and Quilan Portwood; sister, Henrietta Wilson.
She is survived by her five children: Marvin (Iris) Norman, Ilene (Bobby) Price, Freddie (Dana) Norman, Doug (Debbie) Norman, and Cheryl (Steve) Hunt; nine grandchildren: Jenny Boland, Susan (Stephen) Davenport, Meridith (Brian) Metts, Amanda (Jonathan) Ogletree, Colby (Amanda Pennington) Prior, Jason (Jennifer) Norman, Jessica (Marshall) Coursey, Joshua (Karla) Norman, Colton Hunt; three great grandchildren: Justine Boland, Sierra Metts, Sydney Metts; son in law: Dick Boand; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Augusta Gardens for the care that they have taken of their mother for the past 6 ½ years. Also a special thanks to Eva Smith for her kindness and compassion.
Pallbearers will be Colby Prior, Jason Norman, Joshua Norman, Brian Metts, Jonathan Ogletree, Marshall Coursey, and Colton Hunt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 6, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
