Roger Sloan Attaway, Jr.
Roger Sloan Attaway, Jr., 85, of Grier Circle in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on July 20, 2012. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Akin Attaway.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Mon., July 23, at the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Broome officiating.
Mr. Attaway was born in Wrens, Ga. and was the son of the late Roger S. Attaway, Sr. and the late Emma Lou Hadden Attaway. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Attaway was the retired owner and operator of Thomson Radio and TV Service for over 50 years. He was a former member of the Thomson Jaycees. Mr. Attaway was a faithful and devoted member of Thomson Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon.
Survivors include his son, Roger S. “Roddy” Attaway and wife Jean; daughter, Rita Attaway Ray and husband Stewart, all of Evans, Ga.; brother, John Judson “Juddy” Attaway and wife Doris of N. Augusta, S.C.; brother-in-law, John Kilgore; grandchildren, Marie McCarthy and husband Kevin, Jenny Long and husband Boyd, Tori Ray Bell and husband Jordan; and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Attaway was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Attaway Kilgore and Sara Attaway Kidd.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park, Suite 15, Atlanta, Ga. 30329-2012.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the funeral home.

Lonzie Beckworth
Lonzie Beckworth, 75, of Thomson, Ga., husband of Hazel Beckworth, died on Sat., July 21, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., July 24, at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Mon., July 23, at Curtis Funeral Home in Thomson.

Louise Brown

Mary Louise Brown, 97, of Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on July 20, 2012.
Graveside services were held at 4 p.m. on Sun., July 22, from the Resthaven Cemetery in Washington, Ga. with Rev. Greg Hatfield officiating.
Louise was born on Feb. 24, 1915 to the parents of George Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Brown in Lincoln County. She was the oldest of six children. Shortly after her birth, her parents moved to Wilkes County to a community called Lundberg. When she graduated from school, she went to work for a Dr. Woods in Washington and found her calling to become a nurse.
She left Washington in 1941 and headed to Augusta, Ga. where she attended the school of nursing at University Hospital. She landed her first job with Dr. Phillip Mulherin and worked for him for 25 years as a pediatric nurse. Then she worked for Dr. George Echols and Dr. (Matthew Thomas) Howard as a pediatric nurse also until she retired at age 65.
She attended St. James Church for years until she joined Trinity on the Hill Church in 1986. She was a member of the Robert Taylor Sunday School Class and the Smith Sunday School Class, where she served as president from 1998 to 1999.
She joined the Augusta Woman’s Club in 1984 and served as club president from 1992-1994 and again in 2000-2002.
She was Corresponding Secretary from 2002-2004. She served on the Board of Trustees and her committees were Memorials, Ways and Means, Yearbook Committee and Tallulah Falls School. There is a silver award given annually in her name at Tallulah Falls School. She was a big worker in the AWC Annual Antique Fair held annually in Augusta. She also attended and encouraged all members to attend GFWC Georgia Institute held on the campus of the University of Georgia annually in August.
She is survived by her niece, Karyn Strickler and husband Steve; her sister-in-law, Helen Brown; and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Wyman Barney Clark
Wyman Barney Clark, 76, of South Main St. in Dearing, Ga., entered into rest on July 20, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Mon., July 23, from the Dearing Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Timmerman officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Pete Bales, Marvin Dunn, George Holliman, Danny Pullen, Daryl Pullen, Bobby Aldred, Jack McCorkle and Don McCorkle. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pea Ridge Fire Department.
Mr. Clark was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County and the son of the late George P. Clark and the late Eurene Newsome Clark. Mr. Clark was retired as a pipefitter from the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 150 Union. He was a member and served on the Pea Ridge Fire Department for 30 years. Mr. Clark was also a member of Dearing Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Carithers Clark; son, Michael Clark; daughter, Kim Hallford and husband Douglas; sister, Ruth Clark, all of Dearing, Ga.; grandchildren, Daphne Moss, Niki Smith, Jessica Hallford, Jared Vangelder, Weslie Clark and Coty Clark; and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Clark.
Memorials may be made to the Dearing Baptist Church, P.O. Box 279, Dearing, Ga. 30808.
