• Candidates face questions at forum: Balancing athletics and academics key topic for school board contenders

After being allowed a chance to talk about their candidacy, candidates seeing election to the school board answer several questions, Wednesday night.
School board candidates included Super District 2 candidates Greg Derry and Bob Smith, district 5 candidates Tonye Harding and Andy Knox, and District 6 candidate Dexter loins. District 6 candidate Wayne Shelton was unable to attend.
The four questions were presented by moderators Gwendolyn Rountree, of Delta Sigma Theta, and Donna Branch Stillinger, news director of the local radio stations.
