• Contractors begin bidding to rehab Thomson Depot
By Linda Green

A new Thomson Depot is in the works.
Contractors bidding on renovating the city’s event center got an opportunity to see the scope of the needed work during a bidding seminar on Tuesday.
The Depot, which dates back to the 1800s, is part of Thomson’s downtown revitalization plan and the city seeks to bring the historic building into the 21st Century.
For the past several years, city leaders have noticed that the meeting hall at the railroad tracks has been in dire need of renovations and they are now able to get started.
“Our starting point is $1 million in construction,” said City Manager Don Powers.
