• McDuffie school board approves $46M budget

The McDuffie County Board of Education approved a FY 2013 budget of more than $46 million Thursday, June 22, during its regular monthly meeting.
The budget is based on anticipated revenues of $32.9 million from the General Fund, $5.8 million from the Special Revenue Funds, $7.9 million from the SPLOST Fund, and $118,650 from the Debt Service Fund. The approved budget covers from July 1 to June 30, 2013.
The largest anticipated expenditure, according to the budget numbers, will be instruction — $22.9 million.
Other line item expenses anticipated include:
•$2.2 million for school administration
•$3.1 million for maintenance and operation
•$1.9 million for student transportation
•$1.8 million for school food service
