Thomson High School, while not at full strength, cruised to two basketball victories over Warrior teams this weekend.
Friday night, the Bulldogs, ranked third in Class AAA by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, bopped the Grovetown Warriors 73-42 at the Dog House. Saturday night, the Dogs visited Jefferson County and slugged the Warriors 87-54.
Michael Thomas, Thomson head coach, said the team was slowed a bit because of the absence of Dwayne Williams, who was injured in a Jan. 14 rollover accident.
“He warmed up for both games, and could have played, but we felt that if we could hold him out and play well, it would be better for him to strengthen,” said Thomas, who added that Williams should be back in the lineup for the Tuesday game against Richmond Academy.
