• Commission approves shooting range for Sheriff’s Department
By Linda Green

Law enforcement officers in McDuffie County will have a place to learn how to shoot and receive training for the environment in which they work.
The McDuffie County Board of Commissioners approved a firing range for the sheriff’s department during a Tuesday evening meeting.
The vote overturned a request from the planning commission to deny the construction a firearms training range within 210 acres of county-owned land.
The county commission’s approval of a firing range off Vic Moore Road in northwest McDuffie County came after a zoning hearing on the conditional use review for the establishment of a law enforcement training center.
